Last weekend I participated in a swim meet in Cedar Rapids. I did not swim fast but I had a good time and was reminded of a few things! It has at least 1 year since I have raced an event taking less than 2 hours, so swimming a 100 and a few 200 was a bit of a shock to me! Even the 500 free seemed so short, and I feel like a spaz trying to swim fast. This was a good reminder that sometimes to go my fastest does not necessarily mean moving my limbs as fast as possible. Technique, control, and power are important.
I competed in 5 events total- 100 fly, 200 free, 500 free, 200fly, and 1650. In that order, and all in just over 2 hours after a big training week. All I can say was boy was I tired! For a while on the drive back (it's just over 2 hours) that I was going to have to pull over and take a nap! Obviously, I made it home. Now on to more big training, nonstop eating, and lots of sleeping!
